Job Description

Why join our Supply Chain Team As a buyer, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the buying of parts of the product category (mechanical), from distributors, manufacturers and all other approved sources. You are highly recognized for the knowledge of this product category.As a Buyer class 2 (Mechanical) your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Analysis of market conditions of various commodities.
  • Sources parts, including finding sources for new material.
  • Negotiates with the supplier the best offer for CMC.
  • Is pro-active and recognizes when situations warrant more implication.
  • Prioritizes work to adjust to changing situations.
  • Understanding the basic process of MRP, determines which parts need to be bought, and understand all historical data related to the part in question.
  • Obtains quotes from suppliers that include all pertinent data for parts.
  • Analyze quotes and makes decisions based on total cost of acquisition.
  • Places orders in the ERP, which will eventually flow down to supplier and ensures there is an acknowledgement received from supplier.
  • Manages the orders to ensure supplier adheres to commitments, and helps finding solutions when this is impossible.
To join our team, you must have :
  • Diploma of college studies;
  • Minimum of 5 years Supply Chain experience, with at least 4 in the relevant commodity.
  • Has full knowledge of the commodity.
  • Computer basics including Excel, Word and Outlook. Is able to search the Internet.
  • Understands the concepts of Cost Drivers and how these can impact the Total Acquisition Cost.
  • Understands in depth the function of Purchasing.
  • English and French, oral and written.
  • Adheres to a code of conduct.
  • Understands in depth the function of supply chain;
  • Adhere to a Code of Business Conduct and Ethics;
  • Is pro-active and recognize when situations require more involvement;
  • Prioritize work to address situations as they evolve;
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness, critical thinking, creativity, autonomy, initiative, diplomacy, attention to detail and organizational skill;
  • Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills (oral/written); good team player;
  • Knowledge of BAAN Operations Management System is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Goods and Technical Data Export Regulations is an asset;
  • Works well under pressure, autonomous and skilled in problem solving.
