Job Description

Exceldor Cooperative is currently hiring for a Quality Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Quality and Regulatory Affairs (DCQRA), the Quality Specialist will be responsible for communicating, promoting and ensuring compliance with quality standards (SQF, HACCP...) within all Exceldor divisions and its co-manufacturers. The incumbent will support our plants nationwide in all quality assurance activities related to internal and external audits, compliance with Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs), Quality policies and all CFIA regulations and related laws.Job type PermanentStarting dateAs soon as possibleSalaryTerms of employment for management and professional employees, class 6Responsabilities
  • Act as a key contributor/influencer, within all divisions, in a customer service setting.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to plant Quality teams; may lead the work of others without formal management responsibilities; may use internal or external resources to achieve objectives.
  • Develop practical solutions (tools, reports...) to resolve complex problems that constantly require a high degree of creativity.
  • Anticipate changes and/or problems and communicate on pre-identified potential solutions with management and/or plants.
  • Interact with senior management on issues requiring coordination across organizational lines.
  • Represent the department during projects and may assume a Project manager role.
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science and Technology, Food engineering or any other food processing related specialty
  • 6 to 10 years experience in a similar role, including in programme development
  • In-depth knowledge of CFIA regulations and laws
  • Sound knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GFSI standards, meat inspection and other inputs (spices, dairy products, packaging)
  • Sound knowledge of audit systems, allergen management and microbiology
  • Proven results-based leadership with a focus on team coaching and engagement
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills in an environment where a sense of urgency is often required
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite, JDE and quality assurance tools
  • Advanced level of bilingualism required.
