Positions are based in Winnipeg, Selkirk, Ashern, Ste. Rose du Lac, Minnedosa, Grand Rapids, The Pas and Wabowden.Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba class 5 driver #39;s licence.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including bending, kneeling and lifting up to 22 kgs (50 lbs).
  • Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, statutory holidays, and overtime as required.
Qualifications:Essential:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience working with the public, stakeholders and interest groups.
  • Experience supervising staff or demonstrating leadership in a team setting
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Education, experience and/or training related to environmental issues.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience driving a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton truck.
  • Experience loading and hauling trailers.
Duties:The Watercraft Inspector Team Lead conducts the same duites as a Watercraft Inspector and plays an integral role in enforcing Manitoba #39;s Aquatic Invasive Species Regulation, particularly inspecting and decontaminating watercraft and water-related equipment; communicating with and educating the public about the Province #39;s Aquatic Invasive Species Program; and promoting and educating the public about the stewardship practices they must employ to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species in Manitoba. In addition to these duties, the Team Lead is responsible for supervising a small team of Watercraft Inspectors - including providing oversight and guidance to Watercraft Inspectors; troubleshooting issues that aries such as equipment malfuction; ensuring scheduled operating hours are upheld including calling in alternate staff to cover; conducting site logistics relating to the operation of the inspection station; and performing quality control of inspection, decontamination and data collected by the watercraft inspectors.
