We see both economy and environment as invaluable, understanding one cannot be prioritized at the expense of the other.With an unwavering focus on environmental, health and safety excellence, we recycle lead batteries and provide recovered lead and plastics to the battery manufacturing industry for reuse in the creation of new products, while significantly reducing waste requiring disposal.We partner with all major North American battery manufacturers to provide a sustainable closed-loop, circular-economy solution to locally capture spent batteries and recover their valuable components for reuse. In doing so, we help achieve a 99 percent recycling rate – the highest of any consumer product in North America. This includes collecting and processing lead acid batteries and producing high-quality recycled lead and polypropylene pellets for battery manufacturers.We do this through two, strategically located, state-of-the-art recycling facilities near Toronto and Montreal, as well as a logistics hub near Buffalo, New York to facilitate the import/export of products. These locations, along with an extensive network of supply chain and commercial partners, allow us to provide unparalleled service to our battery manufacturing customers throughout North America.Position DescriptionWe are looking for an innovative procurement manager to lead our procurement team. You will spearhead the purchasing process from selecting suppliers to ensuring stock optimization, as well as provide guidance on sourcing and procurement processes.Our procurement manager will be a supply chain expert who will specialize in implementing cost-effective purchases of all goods and services, as required by the company. Ensuring quality control and adhering to the company’s policies, procedures, and specifications on supply chain management will be important. Equally important will be building a procurement process to not only optimize and provide visibility on vendor spend, but to ensure the purchasing process is extremely efficient, across both of our two facilities.Key Accountabilities

  • Developing procurement strategies that are inventive, cost-effective, and streamlined.
  • Sourcing and engaging reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms.
  • Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
  • Develop processes to identify where contracts should exist but don’t and then put those contracts in place.
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Approving purchase orders and organizing and confirming delivery of goods and services.
  • Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
  • Controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Ensure the use of technology, systems, and processes are used to optimize the entire procurement process.
  • Prepare, analyze, and make recommendations from procurement reports.
Experience, Qualifications & Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration.
  • Experience implementing, using, and optimizing technology/systems to optimize the procurement process, including SAP.
  • In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiating terms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
