Job Description

IMPORTANT:Effective immediatelyJOB SUMMARY UNDER THE GENERAL AUTHORITY OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES AND THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF THE CONSEILLÈRE EN SERVICES ADAPTÉS, THE SOCIAL WORK TECHNICIAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MONITORING THE NOTE TAKING SERVICE, EXAM INVIGILATION AND PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS WHO REQUIRE ACCOMMODATIONS (10:30-6:30)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor the note taking service for students requiring accommodations including correspondence with teachers and students, recruitment of note takers, facilitating workshops and reporting on the service.
  • Assure that the procedures for the Exam Invigilation Centre are adhered to and ensure the integrity of the examination process.
  • Participate in the preparation of intervention plans for students who require accommodations, select measures to be taken to achieve the objectives determined, prepare an action plan and apply these measures.
  • Assist in conducting needs assessments for all students who require accommodations in particular, physically disabled students, students with mental health issues and students with medical concerns.
  • Liaise with appropriate services on campus and with the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal (CCSI) to ensure that appropriate equipment is available to meet the needs of the students.
  • Liaise with teachers and staff to meet the needs of students, in particular, physically disabled students, students with mental health issues and students with medical concerns.
  • Refer students to appropriate support services on campus such as Academic Advising, Counseling, Health Services, Financial Assistance, etc.
  • Keep current with issues relating to funding and regulations concerning students requiring accommodations.
  • Maintain records and prepare documentation required by Cégep du Vieux-Montréal (CCSI) and MEES relating to funding for students requiring accommodations.
  • Liaise with the Registrar’s Office to ensure information is received for the English Exit Exam.
  • Liaise with appropriate individuals on campus to ensure that appropriate emergency procedures are taken with the students
  • Assist with English Exit Exam and priority registration processes.
Perform any other related tasks as may be assignedEDUCATION: College diploma in an appropriate specialty (Special Care Counselling) or a diploma or an attestation of studies, which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience working with students who require accommodations
  • Ability to understand and relate well to a diverse College student population
  • Autonomous – ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Computer skills (Word, Internet, Excel)
  • English – advanced, both oral and written
  • French – Intermediate oral, written and comprehension
