As a result of the COVID-19 situation, Jobs.westisland.ca is adapting to make it easier for West Island residents ready to work to connect with local companies ready to hire.Each company has protocols in place for employee safety.Each candidate must be practiced in social distancing and hygiene protocols in their personal life.Together we will keep moving forward in a healthy, productive manner!Position: Street Outreach WorkerStatus: Full time, permanentLocation: Pierrefonds, QCSchedule: 35 hours per weekEvening and weekend schedule from Tuesday to SaturdayAbout the CompanyThe main mandate of the AJOI street outreach worker is to intervene directly with young people in their living environment (street, park, school, etc.) in the West Island.The mission of AJOI is to establish and maintain intervention services of street / community work with young people aged 12 to 25 years at risk and / or in difficulty.Our objective is to offer services such as listening, support, accompaniment, and referral and distribution of prevention material to young people, adults and families struggling with one or more problems. They may include homelessness, drug addiction, mental health, suicidal tendencies, isolation, judicialization, poverty and social exclusion among others.Responsibilities:Identify and infiltrate high-risk environments and places where young people gather (school, park, youth center, shops, etc.);Identify the needs of the community in order to establish a regular and continuous presence and thus create a schedule accordingly;Provide people with accessibility in spaces appropriate to their needs as well as providing listening, support, an opportunity for discussion and the possibility of benefiting from a personalized referral or guidance service;Establish contacts with the target population (young people aged 12 to 25) and create a trust link with significant individuals in the community;Work with human beings, and not with problems, support people in their experiences and accompany them in their efforts by integrating themselves into peoples spaces and daily lives through the use of a non-repressive and tolerant approach;Establish a relationship of being with the targeted young people and develop a meaningful, egalitarian and voluntary relationship while respecting the choices, styles and values of young people;Accompany and support young people in carrying out or participating in projects and activities that meet their aspirations in order to help them take power over their lives and encourage the acquisition and development of their autonomy;Help reduce the commission of petty crime in leisure facilities;Participate in activities offered in the community in order to establish bonds of trust with young people;Respect everyones pace by ensuring confidentiality;Work in collaboration with local organizations to facilitate personalized support and referrals;Manage qualitative and quantitative data (monthly report, statistics and final activity report) in order to draw a youth portrait of the sector targeted by the intervention;Perform assigned administrative tasks;Maintain and always have work tools available: first aid kit, syringe boxes, CPR mask, diary, condoms, statistics sheets, bus passes, petty cash and intervention cell phone;All other related tasksRequirements, Skills and Qualifications:CEGEP Diploma in related fieldA minimum of 3 years experience working with children, families, and parentsProfessional skills and behaviors (teamwork, dynamism, interpersonal skills, honesty, versatility, creativity, sense of organization);Competence in intervention and animation;Adaptability;Decision-making and leadership skills;Communication and logistical capacity;Autonomy and sense of initiative;Ability to listen and empathize.Two years of experience working with young people or with families;Perfectly bilingual, English and French (spoken and written);Know the territory of the West Island and its realities.Assets:Studies in social work or related field;Knowledge of the environment approach;Have a drivers license and have access to a car;Knowledge of different environments (community and institutional);Knowledge of multicultural environments;Speak a third language.Quick Apply
