Job Description

Freedom Boat Club Montreal – Dock Staff.***Please note that the season ends October 15th***Love working outside Love the water Love boatingFreedom Boat Club is the North America’s oldest and largest private member boat club and we are currently looking to add a highly customer-focused person to our dock staff. The position will require weekend and holiday hours. Full-Time (35 – 45 hours per week) or Part-time (10 – 20 hours per week).Join Freedom Boat Club Montreal, located at 410 Rue Victoria in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Qc, J6T 1B8, at the Vieux Canal, as a dock staff team member and enjoy working around boats and boaters! We are looking for a dynamic individual to handle boat reservations, assist club members on and off the boats, and clean and prepare boats for the next member as they return from a day on the water.As a member you will be responsible for 2 primary activities:

  • Servicing and assisting club members who will be utilizing the clubs boats
  • Cleaning, maintaining, docking, and fueling of the clubs boats
More specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist members and guests with loading and unloading belongings from boats
  • Conducting thorough check-in and check-out procedures for members who use club boats
  • Maintaining club boats in a high state of cleanliness and readiness
  • Piloting club boats when required, including safely docking boats and securely tying up boats in slips
  • Fueling boats as needed
  • Ensuring dock equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and organized at all times
  • Communicating with members via marine radio and cell phones
  • Monitoring operations to ensure the members are safely and proficiently operating boats
Dock staff position must meet all criteria below:
  • Has the ability to work outside during hot weather while performing demanding tasks such as washing and waxing boats, lifting and carrying heavy objects, frequent standing, kneeling, stooping.
  • Has a good working attitude and discipline at work.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with members, comprehend basic instructions, and correspond effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to proactively carry out the functions of the job without direct supervision being required.
  • Boating experience is highly preferred and preferential consideration will be given to those with adequate boating abilities.
  • Personality/ Customer service mindset - The company exists to provide excellent customer service to our members so they can enjoy the services of the club. A customer focused mindset is required, as is the ability to deal calmly and pleasantly with members of the club.
  • Ability to swim - due to the nature of the job it is required that all employees be able to swim.
  • This is a seasonal job as the boating season starts on May 1 and runs until mid-October. Employee is responsible for transportation to and from the job site and for timely arrival and departure from the job.

Experience:
