If you are looking for a challenging, yet rewarding career path, you will enjoy being a part of the manufacturing team.General Description:As a Powerhouse Operator, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing process by trouble shooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of all tire-related manufacturing, processing machinery and equipment. You will also be responsible for safety and housekeeping throughout the facility.Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:Operate and maintain boilers, boiler controls, boiler drying and air filtration equipment and moisture separators and their drain systemsLubricate compressed air systemsCorrect PH in the water entering tubers and perform laboratory water tests and other water chemistry tests as necessaryIn accordance with EPA, OSHA and other environmental and safety regulations, safely and efficiently operate:Powerhouse equipment such as heat transfer and combustion systemsSteam and condensate return systemsPiping systems and pressure vesselsEnter test results and equipment operational data into spreadsheets and data collection systems and analyze the data for trends and report out as neededOperate Allen Bradley DCS and other computerized systemsInspect and repair equipment and piping, including that above the powerhouse roof as scheduled or as required to maintain reliability and safe operationsOperate and maintain:Natural gas, fuel oil heating systems, pumps and pumping systemsWater treatment systems including salt brine, water softeners, de-aerating heater, flash tanks, hot well filters, condensate return, chemical injection pumps, etc.Electric power breakers and switch gears, meter systems, ventilation systems, heat recovery systems, and heat exchange equipmentOpen and close large valves, handle heavy weight in excess of 80 pounds, and operate boiler soot blowersReport equipment irregularities and concerns to supervisors and communicate operating information among other operatorsContain, clean up and dispose of spills including acid and chemical spills, as well as handling steam and air leaks in accordance with environmental and safety regulationsLog or use computerized work order system for repair and maintenance activities performedAbide by safe work standards including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Adhere to Goodyear's attendance policyPerform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods of time, which may include lifting light to heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights when applicableBasic Qualifications:HS Diploma/GEDPrevious experience with operations of boilers and boiler controlsProvincial certification for boiler operatorMust be at least 18 years of ageMust be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the futureMust be able to successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment contingenciesAbility to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime if applicableBasic computer skillsFluent in FrenchPreferred Qualifications:Previous experience as an Industrial Powerhouse Operator with the basic knowledge and understanding of machine technology, construction, operation of heavy industrial machinery and power/control devicesCertificate of qualification issued by Emploi Quebec (Class 2 Powerhouse Operator)1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th class Power Engineer certification through Alberta Boilers Safety AssociationExperience adhering to industry-specific safety standardsAbility to understand, speak and read EnglishCandidate Criteria:Self-motivated: demonstrates appropriate initiative with or without direct supervisionHard worker: someone who works diligently to get tasks doneAdaptability: the ability to make changes, and to be successful in changing environmentsTeam player: an associate who can be counted on to assist the company in being successful whether working on a team or individual projectsCommitment to working safelyGoodyear is one of the world's largest tire companies.
