Job Description

We are looking for a full-time Activity & Events Specialist to work at Lakeside Manor, our independent senior living community in Salmon Arm, BC.This position is 37.5 hours per week, and the shifts are Tuesday through Saturday from 1230pm - 830pm. The hourly rate is $17.23 ($16.73/hr base plus $0.50 per hour shift differential).Why work for Vantage Living

Position Overview
  • Develops, plans, and implements and directs activities and programs that promote fun and social interactions amongst our Residents via monthly activities calendars including activities such as Tai Chi, leisure outings, arts and crafts, gardening, organized games, coordination of special events and other related activities;
  • Sets up and organizes supplies & equipment, demonstrates techniques, provides assistance and support to encourage success and documents observations and Resident participation. Participates in quality improvement of activities related to social and recreational programming. Directs all activities in a safety conscious manner and in accordance with the established program;
  • Maintains an inventory of activity equipment, tools and supplies and reports malfunctioning equipment to the General Manager. Maintains recreation areas, storage cupboards and outdoor spaces in an organized and tidy manner;
  • Aids in the organization of outings in the local community to locations of interest to the Residents. Drives Residents in the Residence Bus to outings, doctor appointments, etc. as needed/requested;
  • Operates with a high level of energy, enthusiasm and self-direction aiming for success in this role.
To be Considered
  • Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Recreation program or equivalent education & experience with seniors;
  • Class 4 (unrestricted) drivers license and drivers abstract required;
  • Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as require;
  • Mature, professional and tactful demeanor with compassion and desire to work with the senior population;
  • Understands & supports a social model framework and experience in developing social and recreational programs for seniors;
  • Current First Aid and WHMIS certificates required;
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills and English language proficiency.
