DescriptionPosition #: 203968Expected Start Date: October 21, 2024Union: HSASFacility: Sandy Bay Health CentreCity/Town: Sandy BayDepartment: Addiction Services Community Clinics amp;ProgramsType: Part-time regularFTE: 0.5Shift Information: DaysHours of Work: 112 hours per 6 weeksRelief: NoFloat: NoField Hours: YesSalary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Diploma $29.584 to $36.176 As a member of the interdisciplinary team, and under the general direction of the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. This position will be expected to assess individual and group needs of clients and implement plans to help clients reach their goals.Experience: Minimum of one year experience in addictions/mental health at the community or inpatient level would be desirable.Qualifications: Mental Healthamp; Addictions Counselling Diploma or equivalent program acceptable to the employer. Valid Class 5 driver #39;s licenseKnowledge and Abilities: Ability to function well in a multi-disciplinary setting with clients with complex needs. Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related issues and make appropriate referrals Current and up to date knowledge of best practices in the addiction field and harm reduction strategies including methadone treatment modality. Demonstrate knowledge in addiction(s) and their effects on the family unit. Demonstrate knowledge of treating clients with multiple and severe addictions and/or concurrent disorders. Excellent problem solving skills are necessary. Demonstrated knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model, the Transtheoretical Model of Change and the Clinical Model of Recovery, knowledge of motivational interviewing modality and other best practice counseling modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Knowledge of group dynamics Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures. Knowledge of the treatment of addictions related conditions including concurrent disorders, use of illicit drugs, alcohol and problem gambling.Other Information: Professional registration with applicable professional association (if applicable) Travel Required: NoHuman Resources Exemption: NoOther Information
