Job Description

The Instructional and Assurance Specialist is a hybrid role designed to support two functions at the IEC including Instruction and Assurance. The Instructional aspect of the role includes facilitating courses as required by clients, contractors and building trades. It includes administration of tests and evaluations, ensuring that the expected learning outcomes are met. The Assurance element of the role includes planning and execution of audits in support of the IEC Safety Management Assessment program.Core CompetenciesThe core competencies expected to be demonstrated by this role include:

Job Accountabilities and ResponsibilitiesInstructional Program
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of course content
  • Adheres to relevant training standards and lesson plans
  • Sets up classrooms in preparation for course delivery and maintains an orderly classroom
  • Responds to participant questions in an appropriate manner and seeks answers if unsure of the correct response
  • Provides appropriate assistance to participants with learning disabilities (i.e. literacy, hearing impaired, vision impaired, etc.)
  • Marks and remediates tests, documents evaluations, and ensures required forms are completed
  • Learns new programs in accordance with the IEC accreditation process
  • Participates in the instructor audit processes when required
Assurance Program
  • Schedules clients for SMA Audits
  • Assists clients prior to audits; providing clarification of audit profiles and/or supplying resource materials
  • Follows SMA Procedures for proper auditing process
  • Enters completed audits into the IEC database, generate reports, upload into ISNetworld
  • Reports SMA results to clients and file in customer profile
  • Sends resources to assist clients to upgrade their score; update client profile as required
  • Sends information packages to new/prospective clients (audit profiles, checklist, fees)
  • Responds to client phone calls / emails
  • Participates in audit revision and field trial activities as required
  • Completes internal audits as directed
Requirements
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations in all sizes of classes
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of OHS laws and regulatory bodies in Ontario
  • Coordination skills that foster clear expectations of clients
  • Working knowledge of member company operations, products, and activities
  • Basic computer skills including database entry, report writing, Excel, & Word
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to work alone and as part of multidisciplinary teams
  • Travel to regional operational sites and construction projects
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $25.00-$29.00 per hourFlexible Language Requirement:
  • French not required

  • Sarnia, ON N7S 6L2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
  • Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
  • instructional design: 1 year (preferred)
