Job Description

Job TitleBuilding OperatorJob Description SummaryEngineers are responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the boilers, chillers and all related HVAC equipment. The position requires a keen eye and attention to detail. It is expected that the applicants have a goodunderstanding of building operations and the ability to multi-task when needed. Staff is expected to conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism, courtesy, and integrityJob DescriptionExperience/Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Candidates will possess a valid 4th class power engineering certificate (5th class certificate may also be considered)
  • Possession of a refrigeration engineer certificate would be an asset
  • Minimum two years in a similar role is preferred
  • Working knowledge of heating and cooling systems and associated building automation systems including Microsoft Office programs
  • Good understanding of basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building automation and life safety systems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work shift work including nights and weekends.
  • Customer service orientated.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment as directed by supervisor.
  • Good understanding of OHS and WHIMIS policies and procedures would be an asset
  • Scissor lift and boom lift operating experience would be an asset • Must be capable of working at heights greater than 25 feet.
  • Must be able to provide proof of clear criminal record. Position Summary:
  • Efficiently operate boilers, chillers and HVAC systems to ensure tenant comfort
  • Record all water chemical tests and maintain chemical concentrations at desired levels
  • Ensure any issues arising with the HVAC system are addressed in a timely fashion
  • Completion of scheduled maintenance tasks to limit potential problems and downtime
  • Address all electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning problems that arise
  • Plan, coordinate and perform all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance or repairs on HVAC systems
  • Monitor and inspection of the fire and life safety protection systems
  • Address tenant requests and complaints in a timely and professional manner • Maintain all mechanical and electrical rooms to ensure a safe work area
  • Assist outside contractors when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or other management personnel .
