DescriptionPosition #: 9002874Expected Start Date: April 15, 2025Union: HSASFacility: Royal University HospitalCity/Town: SaskatoonDepartment: Child LifeType: Full-time temporaryExpected Up to Date: April 15, 2026FTE: 1Shift Information: Days, EveningsHours of Work: 14 shifts of 8 hours per 3 weeksRelief: NoFloat: NoField Hours: NoSalary or Pay Band: Pay Band Child Life Therapist - Degree $34.181 to $41.805Travel Required: No The Child Life Therapist strives to reduce the impact of stressful or traumatic life events and situations which affect the development, health and well-being of infants, children, youth and families. The incumbent assesses, develops and implements evidence-based, developmentally and psychologically appropriate programming and interventions to prepare clients and families for any diagnostic or treatment procedures. As a member of multidisciplinary pediatric teams, the incumbent shall advocate for and represent Child Life on committees, interdisciplinary rounds, conferences, hospital and community initiatives where there is concern for the psychosocial, emotional and developmental needs of children, youth and families. Child Life Therapist functions as a member of the Child Life Program Department and as a member of an assigned health care team, in accordance with the professional standards of practice of the Association of Child Life Professionals and the Saskatchewan Health Authority.Human Resources Exemption: NoEducation

  • Bachelor #39;s degree from an ACLP endorsed program
Other Education and Training
  • Obtain child life certification w/in 1yr of employment as a Child Life Therapist
  • Bachelor #39;s degree with a focus on Child Psychology is acceptable
  • Bachelor #39;s degree with a focus on Childamp; Youth is acceptable
  • Bachelor #39;s degree with a focus on pediatric development is acceptable
  • Bachelor #39;s degree with a focus on Child and Family studies is acceptable

Other Information
  • Registered/eligible registration w/Association Child Life Professionals (ACLP)
  • Previous experience as a Child Life Therapist would be considered an asset
