JOB POSTINGCommunications Consultant - FT PermanentGeneral SummaryThe Saskatchewan First Nations Family and Community Institute Inc. (SFNFCI) is the leading, innovative, sustainable, holistic center of research and professional learning to organizations serving children, youth, and families. We attribute our sustained growth and success to the daily contributions of the remarkable individuals who make up our team.The Communications Consultant, under the direction of the Executive Director, is primarily responsible for creating and disseminating internal and external communications materials. The Communications Consultant develop and support implementation of annual communication strategies and plans while overseeing the daily administration of the plan. This position will also draft, edit, and submit written communication, and will oversee the development, management, and maintenance of all print and online communication vehicles for Saskatchewan First Nations Family and Community Institute, including but not limited to Saskatchewan First Nations Family and Community Institute’s website, email templates, and social media accounts.The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator, with excellent presentation and organizational skills. In this position, you will oversee producing high-quality content that engages customers and builds brand recognition.Education

  • A Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related discipline.
ExperienceTwo (2) Years previous experience demonstrating working knowledge in:· Strong working knowledge of communication principles and practices.· The ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with all levels of employees is critical.· Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with strong writing and editorial abilities.· Working knowledge of M365 and its applications, media monitoring software, and other public relation tools· Must be able to meet tight deadlines and execute flawlessly on projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment and see a project through to completion.· Must have the ability to be an influential communications consultant within the organization.Awareness and Knowledge of:
  • First Nations Child and Family Service Agencies standards, practice, policies, and procedures in urban, rural, and rural First Nations settings
  • Issues surrounding the challenges faced by First Nations children, youth, and families in Saskatchewan

  • Organizational Knowledge – Understand Strategic Plan, Vision, Mission, Values, Guiding Principles and Policies and Procedures of SFNFCI.
Salary Range: TBDJob DutiesPlanning and Communication
  • Understand customer needs and develop plans to address them.
  • Promote SFNFCI services, training, special projects, and opportunities to participate in community capacity building to support children, youth and families based on First Nations values.
  • Develop and maintain a communications content calendar outlining SFNFCI services.
  • Implement communication campaign and create key messages of services, programs and training for First Nations communities and First Nations on-reserve service providers with SFNFCI team members.
  • Using M365 develop Share Point communications sites for Teams for different user groups to easily access up to date information.
· Liaison and collaborate with employee groups and cross-functional teams as needed and help provide creative solutions to communication challenges and opportunities.Evaluation and Reporting
  • Carry out research and analysis using a wide variety of tools and methods, to develop a strong understanding of SFNFCI communication, marketing, and public relations needs and organizational objectives.
  • Ongoing evaluation and modification of the SFNFCI Communication Plan and Strategy.
  • Support agencies and customers in accessing information to inform capacity building, access to training and communication resources.
  • Review internal and external documents to ensure consistent messaging from several SFNFCI staff that may include but not limited to annual report, blogs, newsletters, program and project reports, proposals, etc.
· Liaison and collaborate with employee groups and cross-functional teams as needed and help provide creative solutions to communication and key messaging opportunities.Copyrighting & Graphic Design
  • Create a dedicated consistent voice in organizing internal and external information for public to access that is trusted, up to date and transparent in citing references.
  • Serve as senior editor and provide communications content for website.
  • Safeguard SFNFCI copyright for publications.
  • Steward of SFNFCI brand, logo, and visual identity guidelines by ensuring consistent design application for SFNFCI printed and visual materials.
  • Work closely with other SFNFCI staff to create customized, communication and media training for on-reserve service providers.
Project Management
  • Develops methodology and processes for prioritization and scheduling of project and event communication.
  • Provides recommendation for change management key messaging and communication.
  • Provides recommendation for continuation of best business practices for communication processes, and marketing and brand recognition strategies.
Other Functions:
  • Other duties as required for the efficient operation of SFNFCI.
