The majority are 2nd-to-5th generation Canadians of European descent; 15% are of First Nations origin and 5% Metis. About 12,000 immigrants are arriving in the province each year. The MCC constituency includes 96 churches, most belonging to Mennonite Church Saskatchewan and the SK Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Rosthern Junior College, a Mennonite high school is part of the constituency.The MCCS office is located in the north industrial area of Saskatoon, a city of 260,600 which is a service and distribution centre supporting the surrounding area with commercial, technical, agricultural, transportation, health, educational, and other public services. Job Synopsis The Constituency Relations and Education Coordinator is a salaried, 0.8 FTE position. The position represents a collaboration between the Communications & Donor Relations and the Program Team at MCC Saskatchewan. The role includes fostering new and existing relationships with churches, schools, school groups and some partner organizations. Responsibilities include fundraising, facilitating educational experiences for youth and young adults, and public engagement around MCC’s work and program themes. This position reports to the CDR Director for .5 FTE of their role, and responsible to the Program Director for the other .3 FTE of their role.At times, this position requires and offers flexibility around non-standard hours, including some evenings & weekend work.ChallengesKey Responsibilities General:
  • Ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.
  • Participate in staff meetings, and monthly CDR Team and Program Team meetings
  • Model non-violent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public.
  • Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use their gifts within the local faith community.
  • Participate in the development of MCC’s Strategic Plans,
  • Participate in common events with MCCS colleagues, e.g. AGM, Peace Conference, Relief Sale.
  • Develop and implement an annual budget, and monitor quarterly financial reports pertaining to their role
  • Be aware of and prepared to communicate about MCC’s local and international program activities.
  • Engage in training and resourcing opportunities
  • Maintain organizational relationships with churches, community partners, and youth/young adult activities within constituent conferences, including experiential learning opportunities and ministries.
  • Together with the Donor Engagement Coordinator, facilitate Global Education and Material Resource activities for church, school, and constituency groups.
  • Together with the Human Resources Manager, recruit for service and learning opportunities for young adults.
  • Represent the Program Team in the Alumni Engagement Team to encourage the participation of alumni and friends of MCC in youth and young adult programming.
  • Church Engagement (0.5 FTE)
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement the strategic planning for engagement with constituency churches.
  • Conduct phone calls and visits to churches and church leaders to build relationships and encourage their participation with MCC’s work.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies for increased donations from churches.
  • Coordinate MCCS’ response to requests from churches to have staff speak or be present at events.
  • Education Programming & Facilitation (0.3 FTE)
  • Plan, implement, monitor, and report on MCCS’ education coordination.
  • Facilitate and present educational workshops, primarily for youth and young adults, within the constituency and related communities, focused on the program themes of MCC.
  • Create, maintain and diversify partnerships with educational institutions, churches and community organizations in order to provide learning opportunities for them.
