Data Modeling and Analytics SpecialistPrimary Purpose: This position provides analysis, insight, and decision support to the provost and vice-president academic’s budgeting and planning committees, University of Saskatchewan (USask) senior academic and administrative leaders, and to campus stakeholders. The primary focus is to develop and maintain models, datasets, and tools to support the implementation, analysis, operation and oversight of USask’s resource allocation processes and models (including the Transparent Activity Based Budget System). This is a key strategic position within the provost and vice-president academic’s portfolio that is focused on the analysis and alignment of data from institutional systems to support institutional planning and resource allocation.Nature of Work: Reporting to the senior director, assessment and analytics, the incumbent provides analytical expertise through the provision and maintenance of models to support evidence informed decision-making by the provost and other university leaders (deans, executive directors, associate vice-presidents). The position provides scenario modeling and analytics that are critical to support institutional planning, assessment and resource allocation. The incumbent will be involved in many projects and initiatives that will be sensitive and confidential in nature and/or have broad impact across the university. As such, the potential impact of error is significant on the reputation and funding availability for the university. Priorities may vary depending on the sensitivity and urgency of assignments. This position is expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships and collaborations both within the Office of Institutional Planning and Assessment (IPA), with senior university leadership and with the general university community. The variable nature of the work requires an ability to think both logically and creatively to find solutions that meet the needs of multiple stakeholders while exercising discretion in completing tasks and producing information in a fast-paced environment.Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
