If you have a passion for excellence, and would like to work for Corus Entertainment, we encourage you to apply.About the roleGlobal Saskatoon is looking for a full-time digital broadcast journalist with an emphasis on producing content for our website and other platforms. Reporting to the news manager and assignment editor, the successful candidate will join the Global Saskatoon team to help produce compelling, original content for our website and other platforms.The role is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement and could require work during early mornings, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. The position is based in Saskatoon.Responsibilities:

  • Pitch, research, write, and publish stories reflecting the issues of our time and interests of our audience to increase overall traffic and engagement of globalnews.ca
  • Contribute content such as audio, video and data visualizations for airing on other platforms in line with the newsrooms integration goals
  • Collaborate with national online team to create enterprise and accountability news stories for a wide audience
  • Monitor all news sources, including feeds, wires, and social media
  • Chase breaking stories, advance existing stories and develop original stories that distinguish Global News from other media outlets
  • Develop and maintain sources to aid in creating stories
  • Liaise with various digital and broadcast teams, including producers, video editors, visual journalists and others, to facilitate the creation of unique online content.
  • Communicate with the main desk and coworkers on all platforms on breaking news, tips, story chases, and interviews.
What We Need From You:
  • College or university degree (or equivalent experience), preferably in journalism
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, and a passion for online journalism and storytelling
  • Demonstrated experience of accountability and enterprise reporting
  • Demonstrated experience and strong understanding of covering diverse communities
  • Professional and urgent execution of breaking news
  • Strong knowledge of WordPress and CP Style
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills
  • A team player with a curious, positive attitude and a commitment to excellence
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic news environment with multiple tight deadlines
  • Motivated, self-starter, independent, detail-oriented and results-oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
  • Willingness to innovate, explore new ideas and acquire new skills
  • Experience working in TV or radio news is an asset
