Job Description

Blackstone Commercial has 1 (one) opening available for a full-time General Maintenance person in Saskatoon/Warman within the Building Operations team.Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this position will be responsible for performing work for properties within the Blackstone portfolio within the Saskatoon Region. This is a great opportunity to grow within an ever-expanding organization.Responsibilities· Maintain, service, and conduct minor repairs on buildings and equipment.· Performs minor repairs, such as repairing broken locks, changing light bulbs, mudding broken walls, and more.· Tenant improvement projects and repairs· Completion of work order requests generated by Operations Manager for repairs and services. Able to attach PO numbers to WO jobs as requested.· Ensure building standards are always maintained and following strict Safety Plans.· Perform other duties as assigned that would fulfill the mandate of providing complete facilities operations and maintenance.· Landscaping and snow removal abilities and equipment are an asset.· Assist tradesmen and machine operators in construction projects· Prepare and apply construction materials to build structures or fill gaps (e.g cement, steel framing)· Smooth and level new concrete or other materials· Clean out site from debris and discarded material· Place traffic signals where appropriate· Ready the construction site each day for the current project by preparing materials, tools, and equipment· Comply with health and safety regulations when operating equipment or walking on the job site even when not on active duty· Maintain a brisk and productive pace of activities to complete all assigned tasks within time constraints· Leave construction equipment and tools clean, organized, and stored in an orderly fashion after each use· Dispose of debris and hazardous materials according to local environmental standards and regulations· Provide assistance to other team members on various tasks if your duties are completed ahead of schedulePreferred Qualifications· High school diploma or equivalent· Trades degree is an asset· Valid Driver’s License and ability to provide copy of driver’s abstract· Must have a reliable Truck· Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions· Ability to maintain simple records and make verbal reports· Ability to take direction, learn and work independently as well as part of a team· Motivated and energetic team player with an attention to detail and great work ethic· Proven experience as construction worker· Able to work in a team· Able to read instructions and blueprints when needed· Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written)· Excellent balance and eye-hand coordination· Familiarity with hand tools such as power drills, hammers, and saws· Ability to perform repetitive actions using your hands, arms, wrists, fingers, legs, or other body parts· Commitment to wearing protective safety gear for heat, noise, and prevention of injury on the job site· Desire to work long shifts, usually up to 8 hours, during the day or at night· Steady hands and ability to balance well even on high beams or scaffolding· General knowledge of construction operations and procedures· Ability to work well with a team of subcontractors and a supervisorWorking Conditions/Physical Demands· Ability to perform moderate to heavy intensive tasks for extended periods of time· Working in a variety of outdoor and indoor environments with the ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures· Working in tight and confined spaces· Physically demanding position· Significant standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling· Repetitive motions Ability to regularly lift, carry, push and pull weights of up to 100 lbs· Join our team and become a part of a great organizationCompensation· $30-$32 per hour based on experience· Company cell phone· Gas allowanceSchedule:
