Job Description

Ground Service Equipment TechnicianFull Time / PermanentSaskatoon, SKJob PurposeUnder the direction of the general manager, the Ground Service Equipment Technician supports the maintenance and ground services departments and is responsible for utilizing appropriate tooling, equipment, and materials to maintain and repair ground service equipment owned by Snowbird Aviation Services.Primary ResponsibilitiesGround Service Equipment

  • Complete all required planned and non-planned maintenance and repairs within budget or as approved.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on ground service equipment at all company bases.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a scheduled preventative maintenance inspection and servicing program including, but not limited, to minor troubleshooting, repairing, removing, and replacing components.
  • Maintain ground equipment parts storage ensuring that supplies are available to minimize downtime of equipment.
  • Upon approval, requisition necessary parts through maintenance stores and logistics personnel.
  • Coordinate all outsourced work and monitor quality, time, and cost.
  • Fabricate or the oversee the fabrication of specific ground support equipment.
  • In collaboration with maintenance ground service personnel, maintain the ground equipment shop and specific tooling as required and ensure that the space is clean, organized, and efficient, and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company policies and processes.
  • Review, prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as directed.
General Responsibilities
  • Monitor and research regulatory changes and communicate with general manager on necessary updates.
  • Work with finance personnel to ensure required paperwork is provided on a timely basis for billing activities.
  • Ensure that annual training is provided for fuel agents, including annual life fire extinguisher training and reports completion to facilities coordinator and occupational health and safety committee.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the company #39;s vision, mission, and values.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Continuously update job knowledge by participating in training and other educational opportunities.
  • Protect Company values by keeping information confidential.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety programs to promote an incident and injury free culture.
QualificationsTypically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma, and a valid automotive service technician, commercial transport mechanic or heavy-duty mechanic trades certification with a minimum 5 years #39; progressive experience. The incumbent must be able to successfully pass any pre-employment qualifying exams. Previous work experience or training in aviation ground service maintenance and repairs with respect to de-icing equipment or other transportation is an asset. The following certificates/licenses are also considered an asset:
  • Advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tune-up.
  • Air conditioning and refrigeration.
  • Automotive inspection.
  • WHIMS and dangerous goods awareness.
