Grower-Cooperator LiaisonPosition Overview: Researchers collaborating from the University of Saskatchewan and University of Calgary invite applications for a Grower-cooperator Liaison for the Prairie Precision Sustainability Network (PPSN). This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.The Prairie Precision Sustainability Network is a new collaboration between the Universities of Calgary and Saskatchewan that aims to offer data-driven support to grain growers across Western Canada. Together with our sponsors Environment and Climate Change Canada, and Ducks Unlimited Canada, we will measure the potential for unproductive or unprofitable areas within crop fields to support crop industry profitability and environmental sustainability objectives.This one-year, recurring, part-time position, starting in June 2022, which offers a flexible work-from-home schedule. Preference will be given to candidates residing in Saskatoon or near one of the focal data-collection regions in central and eastern Saskatchewan; e.g., Qu’Appelle Valley, Melville, Yorkton, Moosomin, Estevan, Weyburn. It will involve a limited amount of travel, overnight where necessary to meet with growers and to support their contribution of data to the project.The Grower-cooperator Liaison will be responsible for recruiting growers to cooperate with our network from across six regions in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The liaison hired by the University of Saskatchewan and will focus on grain growing regions in southern Saskatchewan. A key role will be to support growers in sharing their data with the Prairie Precision Sustainability Network, manage the data collection and storage, and to explain to growers how the network intends to use the collected data and disseminate preliminary findings.Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
