Reporting directly to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager, the EHS Coordinator willevaluate and monitor health and safety hazards and control risks in the workplace. They are responsible to oversee assigned workplace(s) to ensure compliance with company, client, and government policies, procedures, acts and regulations.The EHS Coordinator will ensure proper application and use of NSC Minerals Ltd. Environmental, Occupational Healthamp; Safety Program.Dutiesamp; Responsibilities Accountable to the EHS Manager for providing professional EHS expertise in coordinating the provisions set forth in NSC Minerals’ Ltd.Environmental, Occupational Healthamp; Safety ProgramAssist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures, in accordance with NSC Minerals Ltd. and regulatory requirementsUnderstand legislation and assist in relationship with Ministry of Environment in Saskatchewan, Alberta Parks and Environment and Alberta Energy RegulatorsAssist in the creation of all legislated environmental reporting.Responsible for the day-to-day administration and coordination of the Environmental, Occupational Healthamp; Safety ProgramAssist line-management in incident prevention, investigation, analyses, and preparation of reports and summariesPost and maintain EHS bulletins, posters, rules and regulationsConduct and maintain EHS files, reports, and site inspectionsEnsure site orientations and awareness training are conducted for all staff/workersAssist in the development of effective corrective actions, where a deficiency has been identified, either through an incident investigation or site inspection/auditAct as liaison between project-line management and the EHS departmentConduct inspections (as required) of job sites, facilities, and equipment for compliance with general and specific safety standards; follow-up on any non-compliance issues and take appropriate action to remedyConduct incident investigations (as required), audits of contractor/subcontractor safety management systems, loss control programs, and non-compliance issues, prepare reports and make recommendations for changes as necessarySupport the implementation of the Certificate of Recognition Program (COR) for the CompanySupport modified duty programs and the WCB claims management program (as required)Ensure emergency response plans are in place and aligned with local regulatory and corporate requirementsParticipate in EHS strategic planning and continuous improvement planning (as required)Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and practices regarding environmental, health, and safetyResearch, plan, organize and conduct training programs.If certified in a specific area, the EHS Coordinator may deliver the training; if not certified, they hire a trainer to conduct the training program (approval required) Education and Skill RequirementsA bachelor #39;s degree or college diploma in a discipline such as Occupational Healthamp; Safety or Environmental Studies would be preferred3-5 years of related work experience within the mining and/or heavy construction industry would be preferredStrong project management background with experience in Environmental Project ManagementCSO or NCSO, Construction Safety Officer/National Construction Safety Officer would be considered an asset.Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) would be considered an assetHas obtained, or the ability to obtain, COR Auditor status in Saskatchewan and Alberta Microsoft Office, computer literacy (word, excel, power point, visio)Ability to facilitate programs and present to groupsWorking knowledge of Provincial, and Federal Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations and programsAvailability to travel up to 30%.Please note this may fluctuate based on need.
