Safety & Mine Rescue Coordinator - Jansen ProjectLocation: Jansen Project, SaskatchewanRotation: 14-days on, 14 days offProject: BHP Jansen Potash ProjectDate Posted: December 14, 2022Application Deadline: December 28, 2022Key Areas of Responsibility:The Safety and Mine Rescue Coordinator provides support to the Health and Safety Department through conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and reviews. The Safety and Mine Rescue Coordinator also has the overall accountability for the Cementation site emergency response and facilities.General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections to ensure that health and safety requirements and governmental legislation is being followed at all times.
  • Conduct health and safety audits, risk assessments, reviews as required.
  • Maintain, and report on, safety and health records and statistics.
  • Monitor machine or equipment changes, ensuring that health and safety precautions are being taken into account.
  • Identify potentially hazardous situations and take proactive measures to correct them.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate site emergency response equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure coordination of site emergency preparedness training and readiness.
  • Bring to the attention of the Lead Safety Coordinator as soon as practical any deficiencies to the site Emergency Response Plan that exposes the site to unacceptable risk.
  • Ensure development, reviewing and revising of site Emergency Response Plan and incident. pre-plans annually or as needed.
  • Ensure all annual rescue equipment certifications are completed.
  • In the event of an emergency, assume role as per incident command team duty card.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.
Travel Requirements:This position has the requirement of travel to our project site and offices.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Pre-Employment Qualifications:
  • Pass pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
  • Criminal Record Check (if applicable).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Full Basic Underground Common Core.
  • Valid drivers licence.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Current and valid mine rescue certification. Mine Rescue Instructor Certificate considered an asset.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of and experience with federal, provincial and local workplace health & safety legislation, rules, regulations and reporting processes and procedures as they apply to mining.
  • Experience with the application of Risk Management concepts and tools preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
  • Able to manage confidential communications and information.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
