Junior Environmental Specialist, Aquatic |Aski Reclamation LPPerm/contract: Permanent Reports to: Senior Project Manager Team: Environment DivisionLocation: Fieldwork, remote, office Level: Junior Hours: VariableSalary: Competitive Special requirements: Ability to travel, work remotelyABOUT ASKI RECLAMATIONAski Reclamation LP (Aski) is a young and dynamic company owned by the Saulteau First Nation.Located in beautiful Moberly Lake, BC, and surrounded by mountain landscapes, Aski aims to be a leading supplier of reclamation, restoration, and environmental services in northeastern BC. Our clients include Indigenous and non-Indigenous governments and enterprises, industry (mining, forestry, oil and gas), and large infrastructure developers. Aski operates a business integrating sustainable development and the environment, seeking 21st-century solutions while engaging with traditional and scientific approaches.ABOUT THE ROLEAski is seeking a motivated junior environmental specialist with experience or interest in aquatic programs to support a growing portfolio of projects, including operational and compliance monitoring programs, aquatic impact assessments, habitat offsetting, and restoration initiatives.Working under the direction of technical leads and the Senior Project Manager, Environment, the ideal candidate has the capacity and interest to work in remote natural settings, participate in field programs, interpret environmental data, compose technical reports, and actively participate in the rapid growth of Aski’s aquatic team.Responsibilities

  • Participate in field programs and assist technical leads in execution
  • Understand sampling plans, and implement lessons learned in the field
  • Test and analyse water samples and assess quality and clarity
  • Calibrate and maintain instruments used to measure and record water flow from different sources like rivers and lakes
  • Compile, manage, and interpret environmental data, and compose technical reports
  • Have an interest in growing with the team and become a leader in the division
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum technical diploma or undergraduate degree in a relevant environmental discipline, such as fisheries, aquatic ecology, environmental science, or ecotoxicology.
  • 1 to 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a professional consulting context.
  • Appropriate qualifications for work in Alberta and British Columbia and a valid
Canadian driver’s license.
  • Ability and interest to work in a growing consulting environment requiring flexibility, teamwork, and fieldwork in remote natural settings.
  • Motivated self-starter with a positive attitude and a desire to take on greater responsibility and authority with increasing experience.
The ideal candidate for this position is in the Peace Region of northeastern BC; however, all candidates from western Canada will be considered.
