Job Description

Division: Community ServicesDepartment: Recreation and Community DevelopmentTerm: 1 Temp Full Time position(s) available for approximately up to March 31, 2025.Closing Date: 12/28/2022Labour Group: CUPE 59Posting: 1728Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Community Initiatives Manager, Social Development Section, this position is responsible for coordinating, facilitating and developing the Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) Strategy for the community of Saskatoon.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the development and sustainability of the LIP by using a community development approach.
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the LIPs budget.
  • Provides consultative services to community based groups pertaining to the identification of community and designated population needs. Gathers public input related to programs and initiatives by maintaining an appropriate professional network, including other cities, government departments and community organizations providing services to immigrants
  • Conducts research, including reviewing existing literature, programs, statistical and policy analysis, and community surveys.
  • Identifies opportunities and facilitates partnerships with community based organizations and other agencies in the community.
  • Represents the Division and the LIP to the community and outside agencies regarding the implementation of the partnerships goals and mandate.
  • Develops and implements a communications strategy to promote awareness and understanding of the structure and work of the LIPs. Delivers presentations and workshops to share information about the LIP.
  • Selects, directs, supervises, schedules, trains, develops and evaluates staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • University degree in social work, International studies, public policy, or a related field.
  • Six years’ progressive experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity, working in community development with immigrant, refugees, newcomer and other designated populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of immigration and designated populations including government, Indigenous and other sector services for this demographic
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public participation processes, group facilitation, team building, and group dynamics.
  • Knowledge of service delivery by public, private and non-profit sectors related to designated populations.
  • Knowledge of current standards, trends, needs, evaluation principles and methods applicable to partnership and community development related to designated populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate processes and partnerships.
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing, including formal presentations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationship with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Ability to research, analyze and summarize reliable information to determine action required.
  • Demonstrated skill in planning, scheduling, budgeting, management reporting and time management.
  • Skill in the use of a computer with word-processing, database and spreadsheet software.
