Job Description

Manager - Workforce AdministrationConnectionPoint is the shared service centre at the University of Saskatchewan. ConnectionPoint operates in a hybrid model, values employee creativity, and prioritizes customer experience and process improvement.Primary Purpose:As the Manager, Workforce Administration, you are an expert in human resources administration. Your purpose is to lead a team to deliver exceptional support and customer service – in areas such as recruitment coordination, onboarding and offboarding activities, benefits and employment transactions – to the faculty, staff and students at the University of Saskatchewan.You are accountable for the implementation, ongoing operations and continuous improvement of human resources administrative processes and activities through the management of and support to a service-oriented team. These human resources processes and activities touch key aspects of the employee life cycle, including: reviewing and posting job ads, prescreening applicants, scheduling interviews, entering appointments, coordinating the logistical arrangements to commence employment, verifying benefits eligibility, enrolment and invoicing and administering employment transactions (e.g. paid and unpaid leaves of absence, returns-to-work, position transfers and separations).Nature of Work: As a member of the ConnectionPoint Leadership Team, reporting to the Director of ConnectionPoint, you contribute to strategic planning and advancing operational excellence and customer experience. You lead a remote/hybrid team that handles high volumes of requests in a fast paced environment, therefore discretionary decision making is required.Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

  • Manage the employee life cycle of direct-reporting staff through activities such as: recruitment, retention and separations, orientation and onboarding, coaching and performance feedback, supporting professional growth, training and development, managing performance improvement and addressing disciplinary matters.
  • Provide oversight to the day-to-day operations of the ConnectionPoint Workforce Administration team and ensure the staff are working within the financial, operational and procedural standards while satisfying customer service needs of the university.
  • Provide audit and sign-off on benefit remittances and reconciliations
  • Ensure operational performance is identified and understood through accurate reporting and relevant metrics.
  • Participate in planning and designing improved HR administrative services, processes and systems.
  • Respond to and resolve complex workforce/employment enquiries and associated administrative processes through use of multiple human resources and tracking systems, software applications and technical support tools (e.g. knowledge base, case management system).
  • Contribute to the planning, establishing and execution of both team and ConnectionPoint strategies and priorities, operations and services and improved processes and technologies that enhance the customer experience and operational performance.
  • Work effectively with other offices (FCO, HR SBAs, Colleges/Units).
  • Ensure human resources information systems are adequately supported and devise strategies to implement enhancements or upgrades.
  • Ensure recruitment system is adequately supported and up to date with current releases and monitor roadmap for new features and updates to influence recruitment strategies
  • Reduce risk by remaining current with and adhering to university policies, guidelines and processes, collective agreements and relevant legislation.
Education: A relevant university degree along with 3-5 years in management and leadership capacities within a customer-oriented workplace. An equivalent combination of applicable education and experience will be considered for this position.Experience: Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Experience leading a customer oriented, improvement focused team. Skills: Possesses advanced subject matter knowledge of Human Resources administrative processes and practices with strong customer-service orientation, innovative problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills and effective relationship-building capabilities.
