Division: Utilities and EnvironmentDepartment: Saskatoon Lightamp; PowerTerm: 1 Permanent Full Time position(s) available.Closing Date: 01/16/2024Labour Group: IBEW 319Posting: 2862Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Metering Foreman, this position performs duties related to the installation and removal of electrical meters.Dutiesamp; ResponsibilitiesTypical DutiesInstalls and removes single-phase, self contained meters and conducts meter verifications, customer disconnects, reconnects and arrears cut-offs. Checks meter installations for compliance with related City of Saskatoon Bylaws, SL amp;P standards and the Canadian Electrical Code. Reads meters and records readings accurately on paper and in a computer database. Maintains complete and accurate records and documents of all calls made. Operates a City vehicle and performs vehicle inspection daily. Obtains and acts upon information received from the Treasurer’s Division, Metering Services and the dispatcher for normal routine assignments. Assists meter repair staff with more complex installations, as required, and with cleaning and washing meters and meter components. Checks meter socket using a socket tester and reports problems to the Metering Technician or Metering Foreman. Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsKnowledge, Abilities And SkillsKnowledge of materials, tools and equipment related to meter installation. Ability to write clearly and legibly. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a constructive, cooperative and collaborative manner. Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with SL amp;P co-workers, other civic employees and the general public. Physical ability to perform the assigned duties outdoors in various weather conditions. Skill in the operation of a computer with word-processing and database software.Education, Training And Experience RequirementsGrade 12 education. One year #39;s experience in related electrical utility work. Successful completion of the SaskPower Qualified Meter Installer – Level 1 training would be considered an asset. Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver #39;s Licence.
