They face major socio-economic and health challenges, systemic racisms, addictions and individual challenges. Outreach advocates, mediates, counsels, mentors and negotiates resources on their behalf. Must be living a healthy lifestyle.The Outreach Worker is part of a wrap around team that provides support and consultation to the Primary Outreach Workers. The Outreach Worker will be responsible for supporting and implementing case plans, and assisting with all aspects of development and delivery of programming. The OW provides support to Primary Outreach Workers and service providers in developing participants release (if applicable) and monthly service plans. The OW will interact with participants, help identify and establish appropriate community supports, as well as coordinate administrative aspects of case management. The delegated Primary Outreach Worker in consultation retains final decision-making responsibility. To qualify, you will possess or be working towards a degree or diploma in human services in any of the following fields: Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Human Justice, Education, Arts: Justice Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, and Indigenous Studies, or relevant experience equivalent.Skills and AbilitiesEssential Skills- Reading text- Document use- Writing- Oral communication- Working with others- Problem solving- Decision making- Critical thinking- Computer use- Continuous learningTransportation/Travel Information- Valid driver #39;s licenceCredentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)- Human Services Diploma- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)Specific Skills- Provide suicide and crisis intervention- Resolve conflict situations- Assist offenders in pre-release and release planning- Appraise clients #39; needs or eligibility for specific servicesWork Conditions and Physical Capabilities- Fast-paced environment- Work under pressureSecurity and Safety- Criminal record check (abstract)- Driving record check (abstract)Target Groups or Clients- Male- Aboriginal groups- Culturally diverse groups- Young offenders- Street population- Female
