As the mining scope is on the critical path, an IPT model supports the sequential nature of mining tasks while ensuring seamless interfaces with the rest of the Jansen project. Through an IPT, shared accountability between BHP and HBJV is fostered, trusting that the best person is selected for each role as the team works towards safely delivering the mining scope on time, on budget, and with high quality. This team will strive for effective work planning, rapid and empowered decision-making, and continuous improvement through a joint construction and operational mindset. Through an IPT, BHP and HBJV leadership hope to expose the team to new perspectives, ways of working, and long-term career progression opportunities.PurposePrecision maintenance is about embedding defect elimination system within the maintenance approaches / methodologies and activities. It supports preventive maintenance and equipment protection to achieve more efficient and low cost maintenance system resulting in continuous operation and higher production. The Superintendent Maintenance Precision supports this by overseeing the contracted work of management and delivery of maintenance execution activities (e.g., ensuring the contractors are properly maintaining BHP’s owned plant, equipment, processes and/or infrastructure). Approximately 60% of their time will be in the field supporting and managing supervising the contractors supervision teams ensuring tasks are scheduled and planned, completing FLEX Field Leadership activities, Risk assurance activities are being met by contractors. They will ensure the contractors meet the equipment manufacturing requirements outlined by the OEM. 40% of their time is occupied by working in SAP ensuring contractor execution supervisorsuperintendents are compliant in proper execution of the Work Management work, such as Quality Notification Approvals, management of ImmediateUrgent WO’s, rescheduling of day to day work, Quality Work Order close outs with time confirmation, document attachments and proper management of material returns. They will also be responsible for ensuring that tasks are adhering to safety requirements. They will identify continuous improvement opportunities and play an overall role in assurance and improvement.About the RoleAssurance and continuous improvements related to contractor maintenance activitiesDecisions pertaining to “stopping work” due to safety or quality concernsConsulted on (pertaining to the Maintenance Scope):Planning and scheduling the work tasksOverall project priorities (e.g., tasks on field)Consulted on decision for contractor supervisors wanting to create a schedule interruptEnsure that the contractor teams have representation at ICAMs, Risk Work ShopsSupervision ReceivedDirect, day-to-day supervision and oversight from the Maintenance SuperintendentSupervision ExercisedNo direct reports however, they ensure that the contractor management teams are supported, aligned and are active in following BHP’s systems and work execution processes.Drives business improvement through the measurement of BHPs performanceReview’s maintenance work orders and activities to maximize efficient productionCarries out post execution tasks and eliminates defects to facilitate reliable and efficient maintenance operationsEnsures the contractors have a QA / QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) process in place for complex or critical jobs identified by the contracted Maintenance Execution teams.Verifies that a list of jobs are reviewed by contracted Maintenance Execution teams to identify work requiring QA/QC (before the Scope Freeze).Ensures contractors develop Standard Maintenance Procedures for overhaul of each equipment type that includes a minimum: Sequence of dismantling & assembling the unit, Cross sectional drawings, Spare Parts, Hole/Shaft tolerance and fitsVerifies contractors have a process for components of critical equipment sent off site to a vendor for repair / overhaul. A detailed SoW will be provided by the relevant contracted Maintenance Execution Team, which details critical aspects of the overhaul and acceptable limits relating to tolerances, alignments, etc.BHP Material Risk ownership – Support by being Risk andor Control owner.Creates and submits Fixed Asset annual reports to Mine Inspector.Reviews and updates Maintenance Standards annually.Defines shutdown objectives, scope and schedules, mobiles shutdown resources, and executes shutdown activities to safeguard production and maintain the safety of maintenance operationsTranslates corporate objectives into actionable plans, communicating, managing, and analyzing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategyIdentifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, and builds a risk aware culture with the contractors to support safe and productive performance outcomesSupports the management of vendor/customer selection, contracts, and performance to maximize operational and financial outcomes and mitigate exposure to riskParticipates in BHP Investigation Process (ICAM’s)Monitor’s vendor performance for all maintenance-related vendorsAccountable for ensuring the work in the field (surface and mining) is completed correctly to the proper level of quality and as per designCommunicates, encourages and supports contractors in using BHP EMS (Event Management system)Ensures the work is closed correctly in the system and includes all relevant documentation and any follow up requirements/improvements for future planning and schedulingAssists with the field planning, scheduling, and coordinating in the field of all major site shutdowns (example – electrical outages, or major break in work)Ensures they are adhering to and exhibiting Jansen core valuesThrough the management of the contractor teams identify opportunities for improvements (master data, work instructions, measurement documents, resource schedule loading, planning and scheduling practices)Ensure work execution teams have quality shift change handover notes process in place and is being utilized as expected.Communicates supports, encourages and audits the contractor teams on participation in the BOS (BHP Operating Systems) initiatives.Creates expectations and holds Contractors accountable to weekly, monthly and quarterly work management metric results.Chairs the contractors weekly, monthly and quarterly work management metric meetings.About YouA recognized technical or maintenance qualification or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experienceMinimum 5 years of relevant experience in mining, contractor management maintenance planning or related industryStrong understanding of quality management processes and systems, ISO standards and auditing processes related to major project delivery or program managementWorking knowledge of engineering, contracts & procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, health & safety, environment & community and risk multi-discipline workflows and interactions for large capital projects.Excellent knowledge of SAPFiori and MS OfficeWell versed in BHP global system and processes (ARIS, FLEX, EMS, GRC, Work Management)High attention to detail, motivation, and commitment to quality outcomes.Ability to operate effectively and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment utilizing agile methodologiesDemonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts and technologiesStrong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including functional managers and discipline leads on the project, clients, outside vendors and contractorsDemonstrated strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills including root cause analysis trainingDemonstrated leadership/ management experienceAbility to effectively work with and lead the larger team to drive continuous improvement on the projectAbility to foster an inclusive environment for their team while grounding to the Jansen core valuesSupporting a Diverse WorkforceThe size and magnitude of our business not only provides significant opportunity for professional development, but also attractive salary packages with performance based bonuses and unique BHP employee share program.At BHP, we recognise that we are strengthened by diversity.
