As the mining scope is on the critical path, an IPT model supports the sequential nature of mining tasks while ensuring seamless interfaces with the rest of the Jansen project. Through an IPT, shared accountability between BHP and HBJV is fostered, trusting that the best person is selected for each role as the team works towards safely delivering the mining scope on time, on budget, and with high quality. This team will strive for effective work planning, rapid and empowered decision-making, and continuous improvement through a joint construction and operational mindset. Through an IPT, BHP and HBJV leadership hope to expose the team to new perspectives, ways of working, and long-term career progression opportunities.PurposePrecision maintenance is about embedding defect elimination system within the maintenance approaches / methodologies and activities. It supports preventive maintenance and equipment protection to achieve more efficient and low cost maintenance system resulting in continuous operation and higher production. The Superintendent Maintenance Precision supports this by overseeing the contracted work of management and delivery of maintenance execution activities (e.g., ensuring the contractors are properly maintaining BHP’s owned plant, equipment, processes and/or infrastructure). Approximately 60% of their time will be in the field supporting and managing supervising the contractors supervision teams ensuring tasks are scheduled and planned, completing FLEX Field Leadership activities, Risk assurance activities are being met by contractors. They will ensure the contractors meet the equipment manufacturing requirements outlined by the OEM. 40% of their time is occupied by working in SAP ensuring contractor execution supervisorsuperintendents are compliant in proper execution of the Work Management work, such as Quality Notification Approvals, management of ImmediateUrgent WO’s, rescheduling of day to day work, Quality Work Order close outs with time confirmation, document attachments and proper management of material returns. They will also be responsible for ensuring that tasks are adhering to safety requirements. They will identify continuous improvement opportunities and play an overall role in assurance and improvement.About the RoleAssurance and continuous improvements related to contractor maintenance activitiesDecisions pertaining to “stopping work” due to safety or quality concernsConsulted on (pertaining to the Maintenance Scope):Planning and scheduling the work tasksOverall project priorities (e.g., tasks on field)Consulted on decision for contractor supervisors wanting to create a schedule interruptEnsure that the contractor teams have representation at ICAMs, Risk Work ShopsSupervision ReceivedDirect, day-to-day supervision and oversight from the Maintenance SuperintendentSupervision ExercisedNo direct reports however, they ensure that the contractor management teams are supported, aligned and are active in following BHP’s systems and work execution processes.Drives business improvement through the measurement of BHPs performanceReview’s maintenance work orders and activities to maximize efficient productionCarries out post execution tasks and eliminates defects to facilitate reliable and efficient maintenance operationsEnsures the contractors have a QA / QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) process in place for complex or critical jobs identified by the contracted Maintenance Execution teams.Verifies that a list of jobs are reviewed by contracted Maintenance Execution teams to identify work requiring QA/QC (before the Scope Freeze).Ensures contractors develop Standard Maintenance Procedures for overhaul of each equipment type that includes a minimum: Sequence of dismantling & assembling the unit, Cross sectional drawings, Spare Parts, Hole/Shaft tolerance and fitsVerifies contractors have a process for components of critical equipment sent off site to a vendor for repair / overhaul.
