We are looking for a professional Auto Body Technician who takes pride in the work they do, continually learning and improving as procedures change and requirement are updated. We provide support and training wherever needed.The Job: Manage the operation of the body, paint, and detail departments of the collision centre ensuring production efficiency. Organize and supervise the workflow with effective utilization of the work force and equipment ensuring the customers’ vehicles are repaired on time, meeting or exceeding both industry standards and customer quality expectations.Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to Collision Center Manager
  • Supervises and supports technicians
  • Works closely with all other production, customer service and administrative staff
Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and motivates all employees directly reporting to this position. Keeps the Collision Center Manager informed of any issues or concerns.
  • Directs the Quality Control process and supervises the implementation of systems to assure the prevention of quality problems and ongoing quality appraisal.
  • Develops and communicates standard repair procedures, and quality and cost standards within the body, paint and detail departments, and monitors performance.
  • Develops and oversees the weekly and daily scheduling of work through the collision center. Directs the movement of vehicles through the collision center and assigns work to the technicians in the most productive manner. Communicate due date goals to technicians daily, and coordinates information flow between the office and the production floor.
  • Breaks down repair orders by department and task assigns work to the appropriate technician. Coordinates all supplements with the front office to ensure that the repair order is properly updated.
  • Coordinates the acquisition, storage and use of sheet metal and hard parts.
  • Administers preventative maintenance program for all equipment and tools and makes recommendations to management regarding replacement or upgrade.
  • Ensure that all production areas are clean and organized.
  • Keeps up to date with new techniques and materials and facilitates training for all appropriate personnel.
  • Complete all training required to maintain all shop certifications. (SGI, I-Car, etc.).
  • Attend all training programs provided to enhance performance both personally and professionally.
  • Tracks and monitors key performance indicators to monitor quality, productivity, and costs.
  • Hold regular meetings with employees to hear their input regarding issues of concern to them, including quality, productivity, and costs.
  • Ensures all Occupational Health and Safety standards are adhered to including periodic meetings, inspections, and reporting.
Skill Criteria:
  • Journeyman with five years’ experience working in a collision Knowledgeable in all facets of the production’s operation
  • Working knowledge of the Mitchell Estimating system
