Along with overall project management responsibility, the Project Coordinator will manage operations in the BHP Jansen Potash Mine, increasing the efficiencies while managing a safe work environment, union relations and ensuring the production facility meets profitability targets.Responsibilities:Position Summary:The Project Coordinator will lead execution of the commercial contract and associated negotiations and claims management associated with major projects, along with managing plant operations for quality assured, environmentally-friendly, reliable and cost effective delivery of Lafarge’s products to customers. The Project Coordinator must also work closely with Site Superintendents, Quality Control & Safety, , Finance, Credit, and other teams to drive the implementation of the Companys One Lafarge strategy.Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate commercial terms for major projects supply
  • Manage all aspects of project execution and provide leadership to project support team
  • Mitigate and remedy all claims within agreed timelines
  • Pursue additional revenue opportunities through projects lifecycle
  • Build relationships with Key stakeholders and Senior levels of customer organizations
  • Keep meticulous, documented records of customer interactions and issues
  • Provide Project Forecast on monthly basis (including all key metrics)
  • Analyse month end results for the plant and project and ensure any variances are investigated and negative variances mitigated for coming months
  • Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example; performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for meeting efficiency targets related to the production of delivery of product, including the coordination of delivery, production, maintenance, site work, and maximum utilization of equipment, personnel and subcontractors related to concrete operations.
  • Ensures all efficiency targets related to production and quality are met
  • Ensures controls and monitoring of raw inventory to meet budget and operational requirements
  • By partnering with customer care & logistics center, ensures daily planning and scheduling of product delivery in order to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Aligns business practices with Customer Care & Logistics Center to ensure consistency.
  • Maintains regular contact to improve coordination between customer care & logistics, production, quality control, sales, service and operations.
  • Ensures the Customer Care experience meets the standards set out by the Customer Care program.
  • Participates in local associations and partnerships to maintain and increase Lafarge presence in local area and to build sales.
  • Endures all Lafarge environment processes and policies are in place and comply with all municipal regulations.
  • Maintains and improves community relations with key stakeholders and municipalities.
  • Drives revenue through increased sales and solution selling by working with sales to optimize opportunities to maintain and grow customer base.
  • Ensures completion of monthly sales and revenue forecasts.
  • Responsible for implementing processes and monitoring results in order to meet all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts and profitability levels.
  • Ensures that processes and practices are in place to meet monthly accounts receivable targets.
  • Manages all aspects of employment relationship for employees including but not limited to recruitment and selection (with HR), performance management, training and development, and discipline if/when required.
  • Works closely with Human Resources and Labour Relations to promote employee engagement.
  • Ensure accurate inventory of Concrete Blocks is maintained across the plant network
  • Develop Concrete Block commercial strategy and execute on sales tactics
  • Ensure Concrete block revenue is maximized whilst balancing inventory and cost avoidance.
  • Investigate and develop alternative concrete product opportunities to complement the existing block portfolio.
  • Manage plant upgrade to ensure all objectives including cost, quality and timeline are achieved.

  • Reduce delivery costs and maintain efficiency through the execution of optimization initiatives to meet KPI as per SPEC
  • Adherence to all internal control requirements
  • Supports driver management & collective agreement negotiations
  • Communicates/Coordinates any changes to customer deliveries with Sales organization
  • Identifies and shares opportunities to improve delivery schedules to minimize delivery times, delivery costs.
  • Sets and monitors department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Timely and accurate reports to support sales, ready mix operations and distribution activities.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely entry and maintenance of data in order to support operations
  • Timely and accurate customer account management following standard operating procedures
  • Meet commercial targets for Concrete block and product sales
  • Manage plant upgrade to ensure sustainable and safe plant operations
Dimensions / Relationships with Others’ Jobs:
  • Interfaces closely with General Manager, Sales, Operations & Plant Managers, and Customer Care & Logistics Manager Plant and their teams.
  • Works closely with functional teams, i.e. H&S, Environment & PR, HR, LR, IT
  • Directly reports to General Manager, Portable Projects
  • Contract Management of $20m contracts (1-2 Concurrently)
  • Annual Plant Revenues: $16M
  • Annual Plant Volumes: 60K m3
  • Provides supervision for approx. 10 non-unionized ready mix drivers and plant operators, Quality Control,Safety and Project Superintendents.
Qualifications:Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Project management & supervisory experience
  • Must have minimum of 5 years concrete ready mix experience, with strong technical / QC background
  • Must have 5 years’ experience with contract management and execution
  • Working knowledge of other construction materials an asset (Aggregates and Asphalt)
  • Prior customer experience and/or experience in distribution an asset
  • Supervisor experience in a unionized environment an asset
  • Demonstrated strong application user skills for MS Office Suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at intermediate level
  • Experience using an ERP / SAP preferred
