(West-Can) is a privately owned road infrastructure company specializing in pavement preservation and roadway construction across Western Canada. West-Can Seal Coating Inc. has been in business for over 35 years with the head office located in Didsbury, Alberta. West-Can performs work in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.As one of the largest pavement preservation companies in Western Canada, West-Can operates offices located in Didsbury, Bruderheim and Brandon Manitoba and are looking to expand. These divisions provide services in Asphalt Milling, Pulverizing, Grading, various Pavement Preservation services along with Liquid Asphalt Manufacturing. For more information on the company, please visit www.west-cansealcoating.com.Due to continued growth West-Can is actively seeking a full time Senior Project Manager/Estimator to join the Management team based out of Saskatoon, SK. As a key member of the Senior Management team, you will provide leadership and strong project management throughout all phases of highway maintenance / repair projects.This position reports directly to the business owner(s). The successful candidate will need to be flexible during the peak season as the position will require travel.Essential Job Accountability The position is responsible for the overall direction, completion and financial outcome of projects ranging from $50,000 to $5,000,000. As a key member of the Senior Management team, you will provide leadership and strong project management throughout all phases of the project including planning, estimating, contract award/ administration, resource planning, issue resolution and project financials.Other qualities will include:

  • Maintain and demonstrate strong technical and professional knowledge
  • Reviewing tender specifications and drawings to ensure accuracy and evaluate project feasibility
  • Work with Senior Management on strategic planning, scheduling
  • Identify and implement efficiencies, process improvements
  • Develop overall project schedule and oversee the maintenance, progress of schedule
  • Monitor and inspect equipment and materials to ensure client specifications are met
  • Monitor performance of the foremen and superintendents in order to make improvements or take corrective action if required
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with customers, consultants, field level employees and suppliers
  • Provide leadership and facilitation, negotiation and problem solving support by resolving issues, building consensus and aligning activities to accomplish the project goals

  • Comply, understand and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment
  • Comply with West-Can and Local OH&S regulations
  • Monitor and enforce employee compliance with West-Can and OH&S regulations
  • Increase overall Health, Safety and Environmental awareness through a pro-active approach
Education
  • Business, Engineering degree or technical diploma is an asset.
  • Related Highways/Municipal surfacing bidding and general production knowledge is essential
