Job Description

Project Manager/Estimator - SaskatoonSince 1950, ASL Paving Ltd. has been providing quality road building and commercial paving services to cities, towns, and government agencies across Saskatchewan and is recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. ASL Paving Ltd. won its initial Best Managed award in 2017 and has successfully retained its status, becoming a Gold Standard winner in 2020.We own and maintain a fleet of approximately 700 pieces of equipment ranging from small plate compactors to large loaders, pavers and graders. We provide hot and cold mix asphalt, recycled asphalt products, and specialty aggregate for the construction, reconstruction and maintenance of arterial and residential streets as well as commercial and industrial sites. We perform and manage all aspects of these projects, from site preparation (earth works, sewers, utilities) to concrete (curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and streetscaping) to the final paving and beyond (inspections, maintenance, repairs).Our Saskatoon office is currently seeking applications for a Project Manager/Estimator. Working under the General Manager, applicants would be responsible for administering and managing construction contracts as well as preparing tenders and providing quotes for work within Saskatoon and surrounding area.Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity take-offs and calculations while preparing tenders and project estimates.
  • Work within a team of managers, superintendents and foremen to ensure projects are completed per design, budget, quality and schedule.
  • Manage subcontractors including but not limited to; payment, quality, schedule.
  • Prepare monthly progress certificates and job cost analysis.
  • Identify and manage risk and opportunities on construction projects.
  • Act as the first point of contact with clients, attend progress/schedule meetings and present on the status of the project.
  • Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, completion of a Certified Engineering Technologist program, or proven industry experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum three years civil construction related experience; field experience is an asset.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent professional manner and positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with clients.
