Come and be a part of this success.About PotashBHP’s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP’s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP’s global portfolio. Jansen’s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.PurposeThe Specialist Continuous Improvement contributes to identifying, scoping and delivering ongoing business improvement opportunities; with the opportunity to be a part of the team that will be accountable to build and drive the improvement function for the world’s newest underground Potash Mine. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will focus on owning and building the Jansen Mine specific data modeling content for the full operation from underground to the logistics network.About the RoleIn this role, you will:

  • Take ownership of operating cost models for Jansen Stage 1 and optimize them for use in the continuous improvement processes
  • Collect and analyze qualitative data through research design and the facilitation of ideation/idea generation, and synthesize the data to generate and enhance insight
  • Build and optimize process maps to be utilized by the Jansen Operations
  • Communicate narratives about the problem or idea at hand, using visual representations to engage and motivate the audience
  • Coach peer teams in the application of lean principles, practices and tools by building rapport, providing feedback
  • Plan, track the delivery of and manage a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes
  • Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems
  • Identify, implement and evaluate the success of continuous improvement activities/initiatives to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of BHP systems and processes
  • Know our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs

About You
  • Post secondary education in Engineering or Mathematics or any similar discipline
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in data analysis, Lean processes and Project Management
  • Cognate experience in an operating environment
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 tools is required
  • Proficiency in Power BI is an asset
