Job Description

With an industry-leading pipeline of projects, strong financial positioning, and talented employees, we aim to continue building on our strong foundation – we have high expectations for the future!The Seabee Gold Operation is an underground gold mining and milling operation, located near Laonil Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, approximately 125 kilometers northeast of the town of La Ronge. The Santoy underground mine has been in continuous commercial production since 2014. Commercial production at the Seabee underground mine commenced in 1991 and exhausted Mineral Resources in 2018. All ore is processed at the Seabee mill facility, which has been in operation since 1991.This position has a schedule of 4 days on, 3 days off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert & La Ronge.Reporting to the General Foreman, Mill Operations, the Supervisor, Assay Lab is responsible for managing the operational aspects of the Assay Laboratory. The Supervisor, Assay Lab oversees and coordinates all laboratory functions and is responsible for the accurate qualitative and quantitative analyses and reporting of samples.

  • Lead and manage the entire Assaying team.
  • Provide a platform for strong leadership and workforce empowerment by training and developing Assay Lab employees in all aspects of the lab functions and duties.
  • Coordinate and liaison with the mill, geological and mining departments to ensure all samples are accounted for and assayed within the established turnaround timelines.
  • Direct the processing and testing of ore samples and analyze results to determine grade, value and mineral properties.
  • Develop appropriate industry standard assay procedures and instructional references for assay staff.
  • Perform operation and maintenance of key analytical equipment such as Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, fusion furnaces, microbalance, related lab equipment and sample preparation equipment.
  • Direct and coordinate with Mill Maintenance and external vendors in the development PM schedule for all the equipment.
  • Ensure weekly production targets are met and provide proactive recommendations for improvement.
  • Research and implement new technology as available to increase effectiveness and efficiency of assay operations.
  • Ensuring that lab employees work safely and in accordance with applicable legislation, and company policy.
  • Maintain and control Assay Laboratory inventory and place orders as required to ensure continuous operations.
  • Write a weekly update and monthly report consisting of but not limited to production statistics and consumable usage as well as safety and training.

  • Experience with gold assaying an asset.
  • Strong expertise of mineral processing and extraction.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective organizational, time management and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills to include data processing and database management.
