Job Description

Onsite Labs Inc. is looking for a Laboratory Technician to perform XRF mineral analysis for its fly-in, fly-out mine site laboratory in Northern Labrador (near Schefferville, Quebec). This position works directly with the Laboratory Supervisor on a 4-person team.Duties include:

  • Sample preparation including drying, crushing, and pulverizing of samples.
  • Fusing samples to prepare for XRF analysis.
  • Analyzing samples using Bruker S8 Tiger/Dragon XRF instruments.
  • Reviewing results for compliance with quality management system.
  • Other analysis as required including particle size determinations, and moisture content.
  • General assistance with laboratory maintenance, cleaning, etc.
The successful candidate will need to be prepared for remote living in a far-north climate. While accommodations are modern and appropriate, a sense of adventure and tolerance for this lifestyle is required to succeed.As a fly-in, fly-out operation, employees will travel to site on a client-chartered flight from one of three possible airports in Quebec and Newfoundland. Return travel from the employees home in Eastern Canada to the charter flight airport will be provided by Onsite Labs Inc. [Note, generally all Canadian locations from Ontario to Newfoundland can be accommodated.] Working hours are 12 hours per day (night shift or day shift) for 14 consecutive days plus one day of travel per rotation. All accommodations and meals are provided by the mine operator while at site.The successful candidate for this role will have a demonstrated ability to work independently and maintain a high quality of execution of their assigned tasks. A self-starting, take-ownership attitude are valuable traits for this laboratory operation.A competitive salary will be discussed at the interview.Onsite Labs Inc. is a privately owned operator of mine site laboratories in the Canadian mining industry.Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contractSalary: $16.00-$37.00 per hourSchedule:
