Job Description

The PositionSwanson’s Ready-Mix is looking for an experienced, responsible, safe, and dependable Ready-Mix Concrete Truck Driver to join our local team in Sechelt, B.C. You will deliver concrete to construction sites following all safety and operational guidelines, check concrete for quality according to order details and maintain courteous customer relations.General Duties and Tasks

  • Operate a Ready Mix, Single Axle or Tandem truck.
  • Routine equipment maintenance.
  • Contribute to keeping locations in and around the site clean and hazardous-free.
  • Learn our company safety protocol to execute work safely.
  • Manoeuvre trucks in very tight construction areas at times.
  • Drive in a safe and courteous manner to and from job sites.
  • Perform various administrative duties including submitting delivery slips to customers, etc.
  • Maintaining an accurate logbook.
  • Deal with customers and the general public in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Clean the ready-mix truck and mixer, both inside and out, following product delivery.
  • Performing necessary pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Perform other tasks within the scope of the position and as assigned by the Supervisor.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • A valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement.
  • At least 3 years of driving experience with operating a ready-mix, single axle or tandem truck.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality standards.
  • Demonstrated record of safe driving and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment.
Working Condition/Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to join the Teamster Union.
  • Safety training required; PPE required.
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects; use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; sit and stand for long periods with frequent bending.
  • Require good manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Noise level is generally loud.
