Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Finance Clerk in Sechelt, British Columbia. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who can work independently and with direction to provide payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, administrative and clerical support by carrying out all the tasks within the full bookkeeping cycle.Responsibilities:Your specific roles and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Maintain financial books using computerized accounting systems, including accounts receivable and accounts payable; enter financial information, prepare adjusting journal entries, and develop financial statements.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and submit federal and provincial remittances as required.
  • Responsible for handling and managing cash deposits.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and audit.
  • Monthly reconciliation of ledgers and sub-ledgers, posting adjustments and resolving errors/discrepancies.
  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records.
  • Adhere to applicable laws and organizational policies and follow established procedures.
  • Review and monitor all contribution agreements and program fund accounts to ensure spending is within budget limits and that proper fiscal practices are followed.
  • Enforce and implement internal controls.
  • Prepare financial reports as required by funder contract requirements.
  • Assist in year-end planning, audit preparation, schedules, working papers and reconciliations.
  • Manage and maintain record keeping and personnel files.
  • Manage office equipment, maintenance and service contracts and systems.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a diploma in business administration or commerce or a professional accounting program.
  • At least 3 years of experience in full-cycle bookkeeping on a computerized accounting system.
  • Good understanding of financial reporting principles and practices.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines; excellent organization skills.
  • Proven prioritization, time management and effective written and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to build a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in dealing with private and confidential information.
  • Ability to communicate and to deal courteously, tactfully and diplomatically.
