The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewSelkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC) is a 252-bed facility that provides specialized inpatient mental health and acquired brain injury treatment and rehabilitation services to residents of Manitoba whose challenging needs cannot be met elsewhere in the provincial health care system. SMHC also provides mental health services to people from the Territory of Nunavut who do not have access to locally available inpatient mental health facilities.The Manager, Support Services is accountable for the development and coordination of support services while ensuring the cohesive integration of these services with programs to achieve optimal patient care. Support Services includes environmental hygiene, food production, laundry, mobile support, ordering/receiving/warehousing supplies, building maintenance as well as managing capital and minor capital expenditures.Experience

  • Management experience in a healthcare environment
  • Management experience in a unionized setting
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Post-secondary degree/bachelor of Human Nutritional Sciences or Food Sciences, or a Degree in Management, or postsecondary certification in healthcare management
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management
  • Experience applying change management principles
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills in a timely manner
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health practices and procedures
  • Excellent verbal communication skills are required to effectively present information to stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication skills are required to prepare correspondence for a variety of purposes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience developing policies and procedures is an asset
  • Lean 6-sigma certificate or experience in quality management is an asset
