You will help shape our future growth, not just follow it from the sidelines.Job DescriptionReporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will lead and manage an existing team of over 25 accounting professionals (general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable) while overseeing the month, quarter and year-end close process. The successful candidate will also be a key driver of systems and process improvements. In particular, this person will be tasked with optimizing the current systems, establishing best practices to help leverage these systems to automate routine processes, and scaling the current suite of tools to meet future business needs as our organization continues to grow.Duties and responsibilities include but are not limed to the following:Provide leadership and direction to staff members in overcoming problems and performing daily tasks;Provide timely, candid and constructive performance feedback, recognizing and rewarding team members for accomplishments, and developing employees to their fullest potential;Support the CFO with the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and budgeting process;Manage financial controls and accounting procedures;Prepare financial reports and analyze financial data;Manage financial transactions;Monitor and control cash flow;Run the annual financial audit process;Evaluate and assist with managing risk;Ensure timely and accurate completion of the monthly general ledger close responsibilities for the corporate entities, including the preparation of the journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis;Liaise with external stakeholders to ensure proper reporting for banking, insurance, legal and client purposes;Prepare monthly margin reports for financial institutions and ensure financial covenants are met;Provide variance analysis for revenue, general and corporate expenses on a monthly basis in comparison to budget;Assist with tax compliance and remittance matters;Participate in budgeting, forecasting future cash flow of the organization, and making determinations relating to current and future investments / expenditures;Work with other departments in the organization with a goal to craft efficient and effective solutions that streamline, standardize and automate workflows (where possible and practical).QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related;Professional Accounting designation (CPA or legacy designation);Minimum 5+ years of experience in a senior financial managerial position;Must have relevant, proven experience of team leadership and people management;Ability to attain goals and objectives through delegating and managing teams;Experience building and managing relationships with internal stakeholders;Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in French and in English;Experience in a leading or key contributor role in the development and implementation of a roadmap to modernize accounting systems and related business processes;Continuous performance improvement mindset with a passion to improve processes, tools, and workflow automation; savvy with the use of technology and software, while continuously keeping up with current technology trends;Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;Exceptional communication skills;Display integrity, objectivity, professional competence, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
