Job Description

GDMS–C is seeking a Program Manager for our growing Naval Sonar Systems business area. Our products deliver leading edge Underwater Warfare capabilities. Our new product offering is targeted to an untapped segment of the market and is gaining significant interest from International customers. As new customers come on-line, this Program Manager will lead the team to deliver the new sonar systems. To be successful, this role will require cross-discipline coordination between groups such asengineering, supply chain, commercial, and finance.Responsibilities:

  • Plan, monitor and control the work on the program(s) and maintain overall accountability for the cost, schedule, risk and profit performance of the portfolio through metrics and techniques such as earned value
  • Oversee all aspects of the program to ensure compliance for technical and programmatic requirements within program budgets
  • Ensure all services and products are completed on time and on budget to the customer requirements
  • Keep current the Statement of Work, Program Management Plan and all related Program Management Documents
  • Lead program reviews (both internally and with the customer), reporting and providing status of activities on a timely basis
  • Act as a point of escalation and resolution for program issues and roadblocks
  • Maintain ownership of strategic initiatives to support portfolio growth and longer term business continuity, including generation of mitigation plans
  • Oversee preparation of Engineering Change Proposals as required
  • Act in a leadership role representing the customers set for all relevant program issues, concerns and requirements.
  • Provide input on requests for information (RFI) and request for proposals (RFP)
  • Provide leadershipamp; mentorship to the project team(s)
  • Manage program resources through liaison with engineering and other program/project managers
  • Provide effective briefings to senior management both internally, as well as, externally within our customer base
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management to ensure all relevant parties are involved
  • Travel as required
Educationamp; Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Advanced ability to manage programs in accordance with cost, schedule and quality commitments
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management tools and methodologies as applicable to complex systems integration activities
  • Desire and capability to interact effectively with the customer base to influence, negotiate, assure a level satisfaction, and grow the assigned portfolio
  • Strong writing skills and experience writing Program Management Plans
  • Understanding of all elements of large value contracts/subcontracts
  • Familiarity with project planning techniques and fiscal management
  • Excellent understanding of financial performance indicators
  • Strict code of personal and business ethics
  • Familiar with processes associated with program start up
The following would be considered assets.
  • Familiarity with technical systems and support systems used on modern military projects
  • Approximately 10 years’ related Program Management experience
  • Experience with medium to large programs valued in excess of $50M
  • Ability to communicate (verbally/written) in Spanish and/or Mandarin
