We work to promote Nova Scotia as Canada’s premier fish and seafood province.About Our OpportunityThis is an opportunity with the Aquaculture Division, part of the NS Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (NSDFA). Under the supervision of the Manager of Aquaculture Operations, the Aquaculture Biologist works as part of a team in the Aquaculture Operations Section and assists with the delivery of aquaculture programs, field and laboratory work, and research and development. The Biologist supports the work of Senior NSDFA staff to meet Division objectives.Working with Senior NSDFA staff, the Biologist provides professional planning, development, and operational support for the development of commercial aquaculture in Nova Scotia. The position focuses working closely with Senior Staff, the aquaculture industry, academic community and various federal/provincial agencies to fully develop the aquaculture potential of Nova Scotia. The Biologist has specific knowledge of the science and technology related to aquaculture and possesses the ability to work in the field, lab and office settings. The Biologist provides technical support to the Division staff in field and lab settings, as well as for processing of lease/licence applications and maintaining various aquaculture databases.Primary AccountabilitiesAs an Aquaculture Biologist, you will:
