Job Description

Position Description:Reporting to the Drainage Superintendents, the incumbent will be expected to assist in the development and maintenance of the County’s GIS System, including elements to monitor and assess information related to the Engineering Department, including:

  • Assist in creating new data layers for the County GIS and inputting data
  • Assist with creating, digitizing, scanning, and/or printing maps
  • Assist in the updating and maintenance of existing data
  • Assist in the collection of data and mapping of municipal infrastructure
  • Assist in analyzing collected data and querying specific data from the County’s GIS
  • Assist in surveying, or inspecting municipal construction or maintenance projects
  • Other duties as assigned
RequirementsQualifications:
  • University or college student enrolled in a discipline related to Planning, Engineering or Geography, including courses of study in GIS
  • Computer expertise with preference given to students with advanced knowledge in engineering specific programs such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, ArcOnline, Collector for ArcGIS, Access, as well as standard corporate software (Microsoft Office)
  • Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Good time management, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of basic land surveying principles would be considered an asset
Note:Employment is conditional upon: attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term.At time of application must be enrolled in a post-secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.
