Job Description

Take on the challenges and rewards of a career that will take you far.Dumas is a leading full-service underground mining contractor providing services to clients throughout the Americas. We specialize in mine construction, mine development, production mining, mine services and engineering.The SAFETY COORDINATOR is responsible to ensure Dumas, Client and Legislated Health Safety and Environmental practices and procedures are being promoted and followed. He/she will also be responsible for inductions, training upgrades and record keeping. Schedule: 14/14Accommodation: Provided in a newly refurbished camp environment.Transportation: for those fully vaccinated against COVID-19, commercial flights may now be used to get to the Charter Flight locations in Ontario (North Bay, Sudbury and Thunder Bay). Charter flights use is mandatory from areas east of Manitoba border (minimal exceptions) NOW ACCEPTING RESUMES FROM ALL CANADIAN PROVINCES.Qualifications Required:

  • Strong training, leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum 10 years experience in underground operations
  • We will consider an experienced Miner with a strong safety commitment who meets the majority of the requirements.
  • Knowledge and accreditation with respect to mining tasks, in particular: Haulage Trucks, Scoops, MacLean Bolters, Jumbos, Construction, Shotcreting.
  • Good computer skills - Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience creating training manuals, maintaining training records
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of the Provincial Health & Safety Mining Regulations for Manitoba
  • U/G Basic Hard Rock Miner Common Core or equivalent
  • Train the Trainer Certification
  • Accreditation in the U/G Supervisory Common Core or equivalent preferred.
Duties will include:
  • Promote and adhere to Dumas Contracting Ltd. Health, Safety and Environmental policies
  • Work in conjunction with clients safety department
  • Perform Safety functions such as incident investigations, inspections, observations, record keeping etc...
  • Assist supervision with safety meetings
  • Perform initial site inductions
  • Train and mentor equipment operators as needed
  • Other duties as required
