Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Filmmaking Instructor is responsible for the Filmmaking program for Amber Academy. In keeping with the vision, philosophy, values and mission of Amber Academy Youth Fine Arts Society, the successful candidate will be required to plan and teach weekly filmmaking and videography classes for students in grades 5+ (ages 10 and up). Qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to:Qualifications

  • A keen interest in storytelling through digital filmmaking
  • Self-directed with good communication and leadership skills
  • Enjoy working with youth and able to establish rapport with teens and pre-teens
  • Enthusiastic about mentoring and empowering youth to become confident individuals and engaged members of the community
  • Able to create and implement a program with clear goals, curriculum, and lesson plans
Experience & Education
  • Must have previous experience in filmmaking and videography
  • Certification in a program focused on working with children and youth of varying developmental abilities, or equivalent proven experience in an educational or recreational capacity is an asset
  • Preference may be given to applicants with an education background in Film Studies, Fine Arts, or Media Arts
This is a contract, part-time term position beginning September 2022 and terminating June 2023 with the option to renew. Hours will be most Fridays from 3:30-5:00pm.
