The Landscape Technician should contribute to a positive and respectful relationship with the customer, with their crew, and with the management team.Daily Tasks: In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of outdoor living and hardscape projects, including the design and construction of patios, decks, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and other features that enhance the beauty and functionality of our clients outdoor spaces. You will also be responsible for the installation and maintenance of plants, shrubs, trees, and other foliage. The Technician will be responsible for assisting the Landscape Foreman in all of your team’s projects. You will report directly to the Foreman for all concerns, questions, issues, and customer requests. You will need to have a working knowledge of the standard operating procedures of all aspects of landscaping and water features and the ability to learn all concepts that deal with outdoor construction/hardscaping.The physical demands of this job require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and frequently operating machinery. This job requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to the elements. This may include heavy to moderate noise and exposure to tools and machines used in outdoor construction/landscaping.Job Requirements

• Current and valid BC class 5 Driver’s license with transportation

• Drivers abstract

• 2+ years Job experience in related field required

• Steel toed boots

• Appropriate attire for all weather conditions

• Ability to learn and retain information and instruction

• Can lift 50lbs on a continual basis and have the physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

_______________________________________________________Expectations

• Between 40 to 50 hours per week

• Competence in operating ALL landscaping/hardscaping equipment, powered and non-powered.

• Competence in operating all relevant machinery at Rooted Landscape

• Ability to drive with and work with a trailer

• Competence in assisting with all landscape installation projects, shrub pruning, mulching, plant installations, boulder walls, edging, stonework, segmental retaining walls, paver patios and landscape lighting. Competence in assisting with jobs including but not limited to ponds, waterfalls, water features, etc.

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Time management and problem-solving skills

• Ability to understand and learn technology and follow designs and construction plans

• Have a keen eye for detail

• Reliability and timeliness

• Willingness to continually update and improve skills and knowledge in the field through training and professional development
