Qualifications:Essential:
  • Experience providing clerical and administrative support.
  • Experience reading legal descriptions, surveys and/or subdivision plans.
  • Experience working with database systems, including data entry for updating and maintaining file information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel or similar other programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with the public and staff.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for dealing with the public and staff by phone and in person.
  • Strong written communication skills for preparing letters and other types of written documents.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills for meeting strict deadlines.
  • Experience processing and analyzing documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with mathematics concepts and calculations.
  • Experience conducting property registration searches with a focus on land titles.
  • Knowledge of assessment services including property assessment and municipal taxation.
Duties:This is a senior clerical position in the district Assessment Office that provides higher-level of clerical support services to the assessment program by reviewing incoming land title documents, updating changes such as owner, address, property characteristics and jurisdictional changes in databases; calculating property values and confirming measurements for taxation purposes; and applying the appropriate tax class and liability to new owners of property. The position responds to general and routine inquiries from the public and forwards more complex inquiries to the appropriate assessors.
