Closing Date: July 8, 2021Reporting to the General Supervisor, Maintenance, the Electronics Technician is responsible for maintaining mobile telecommunications systems such as mine dispatch, two-way radios, camera systems, mobile equipment monitoring connectivity, shovel payload systems, and other similar systems to improve system performance. This position will also provide development support to various improvement projects including Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and drill Global Positioning System upgrades. This role follows a 4x4 days schedule; however, is subject to change depending on operational requirements.To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, who is self motivated and able to adapt to a dynamic environment. Come experience what work life balance is all about!Responsibilities:Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresEnsure security and availability of the Pit Wifi networkInstall, commission, and maintain a variety of electronics equipment such as Wenco Pit Control, Proximity Detection, Tire Pressure monitoring, GPS, Fatigue Detection, Shovel Payload Monitoring, Real Time Cameras, Trunked Digital Radio Repeaters, Two Way Radios, In Vehicle Wi-Fi, Fuel Tank Level Monitoring, Drill Positioning, and Machine Monitoring systemsRespond to service calls throughout the mine site in a timely mannerDevelop standard methodologies, job procedures, and troubleshooting guidelinesWork with a multidisciplinary group to pilot new technologies and processes throughout the development, installation, and monitoring phasesWork at heights and work outdoors for extended periods of time as neededQualifications:Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technician diploma or equivalent education and experienceAbility to use various electronic meters to analyze and diagnose system faultsHands on experience with the installation of communications hardware, Coaxial cabling and Ethernet cabling, including the use of basic hand and power toolsProgrammable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming experienceStrong digital literacy, proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite®, with the ability to learn various types of softwareExperience with Kenwood NEXEDGE Digital Trunking systemAt Teck, we value diversity.
