Job Description

Closing Date: November 9, 2022Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations, the Mine Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe and productive operation of the operations crew. This position follows a 4x4 schedule rotation of day and night shifts.To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can connect with personnel at all levels of the organization. This person has strong leadership skills, is passionate about continuous improvement, and can empower their team.   • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Lead and empower employees in achieving operating targets and improve employee work performance and efficiency through mentorship and feedback
  • Manage and optimize truck, shovel, drilling, and blasting functions to improve production and minimize operating costs
  • Administer the collective agreement, safety, and mine and environmental regulations in a manner consistent with policies and procedures
  • Understand mine plans and mine maintenance activities and collaborate closely with other shift supervisors, engineers, and maintenance personnel in coordinating mining activities
  • Participate in industrial relations and safety investigations
Qualifications:
  • Possess, or can attain, a valid Open Pit Shift Boss certificate
  • Minimum three years of demonstrated ability leading operational activities in an open pit mining environment
  • Understanding of the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in BC
  • Exposure to the Wenco Dispatch System is an asset
