Job Description

In collaboration with Westpark Environmental (a division of Westpark Electric), we are looking for a temporary full-time Environmental Monitor to join an active project in Eastern B.C. QEP status is not required, and this position would be an excellent opportunity for a non-QEP or technician to gain valuable experienceWestpark Electric Ltd. was incorporated in 1995 for the purpose of pursuing Electrical Contracting in industrial and renewable energy industries. Specializing in turn-key design-build projects, Westpark has developed a solid base of industrial clients in North America. Westpark has built long-term relationships with its clients based on hard work, quality workmanship, professionalism, safe work practices, upholding the highest environmental standards, and most importantly, creating open and honest engagement with its clients and partners.Expectations

  • Fully understand the Project-specific Environmental Protection Plan (EPP)
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and inspection of aquatic and upland work areas for compliance with federal and provincial environmental regulations and project-specific obligations
  • Maintain the environmental mitigation measures and modify if necessary
  • Immediately share any issues or modifications with the Environmental Manager for ongoing monitoring &/or escalation
  • Participating in daily tailboard meetings to share mitigation measures
  • Documenting environmental conditions and observations of terrestrial and aquatic areas in work areas
  • Collect environmental data to determine EPP compliance
  • Calibrating and maintaining environmental data instruments so readings remain accurate
  • Responsible for quantities and types of emergency spill equipment and their placement at appropriate locations throughout site
  • Comfortable issuing Stop Work Order in event of any activity creates or could create a risk to the environment
  • Routinely checking on-site equipment identified in the EPP is in good working condition
  • Keeping detailed records (e.g., field notes, photographs, instrument data) of construction activities and associated environmental conditions
  • Preparing a Daily and Weekly Environmental Monitoring Reports
  • Keep open and frequent communication with the Environmental Manager and maintain strong rapport with site management team
Qualifications
  • Experience in civil construction environment an asset
  • Proven written reporting skills
  • Strong communicator
  • Able to work shift work; 3 weeks on/1 week off
