Closing Date: September 23, 2021Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Analyst is responsible for providing accurate coal preparation and assay testing to ensure customer satisfaction and mining performance in our operation. This is a temporary position, with potential opportunity for it to become permanent in the future.To be successful, we are looking for a self-empowered individual who can work well with a team. Due to the importance of this work in our coal process, accuracy and efficiency are extremely meaningful. You must be able to multi-task, stay organized, prioritize your work, and manage the handling of samples up to 25kg to keep the process moving efficiently. Since you will be engaging multiple partners across our site, strong communication and interpersonal skills will be vital.You will have the chance to work with partners from many different departments, giving you exposure to the different processes involved in our operations. This gives you the opportunity for growth in different streams of our business. With an all day shift schedule and a competitive salary and benefits package, come experience what work life balance is all about!Responsibilities:Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresPrepare and process daily composite and customer samples in a safe and efficient mannerAnalyze coal utilizing various pieces of laboratory equipmentMaintain technical updates, keeping the coal laboratory procedures currentCalibrate and maintain various pieces of laboratory equipment (pulverizers, crushers, screens, ovens, pXRF, Malvern), keep track of calibration dates, order parts, and put in work orders for repairQualifications:Technical diploma, or high school diploma with related experiencePrevious experience with laboratory analysis utilizing related equipmentValid Class 5 Drivers LicenseProficient with the Microsoft Office Suite®, particularly Excel and WordAt Teck, we value diversity.
